Who am I and how can I help?
I’ve been a professional artist, art coach and teacher for over 25 years. I’ve exhibited in countless galleries and venues internationally and been an artist in residence in more than 17 countries (and counting), including Turkey, Iceland, Mexico and India.
As a coach, I work with artists to craft a plan for growing their work and realizing their vision. One of my greatest thrills is to help other artists find their groove and put their work out in the world authentically.
So many of the skills I’ve learned over the years have taken me months and years to learn, through trial and error, and doing things the hard way!
Now I can shortcut the process for you and offer simple steps that are co-created to address your specific needs.
We will come up with a master plan to kickstart the next level for you and your work. I will be your personal guide, answering all your questions whether it’s about art techniques, marketing, travel, or the business side of art.
Here’s what past students are saying…
"Looking back through time when I was in grade school and then out in the world learning - I realize I have not had a mentor - someone whom I respect through their work, teaching, and the way they live their life to be called as such. I can now say I have my mentor and it’s you! So thank you - I wanted to experience this in my lifetime!”
- Kari Garen
”As an artist, it can really help to reach out to someone with more experience to help navigate the uncertainty of a blank canvas or find reliable methods to develop daily studio time. I have called on Amy’s coaching for these very matters. As a mentor, Amy offers guidance grounded in practicality, energized by passion and intimate knowing of the creative process. After each meeting with Amy, I felt informed, encouraged and raring to go. Thank you Amy!”
- Laurel Miller
"I just completed a private lesson with Amy. I wanted a one-on-one session so I could get all my questions answered as we went along. Amy let me customize the class to focus on those skills I was most interested in learning and I loved it! Amy is a kind and supportive teacher and a session with her made me feel prepared to experiment and capture a wee bit of her magic!”
- Rosemary Carstens
“Amy’s teachings are a wonderful mix of inspiration, guidance, and support to find our own way. Starting with meditative moments to find our inner quiet, we begin painting with a sense of freedom and abandon which Amy calls “following the subtle beckoning.” We continue in this wild dance, experimenting and playing, listening and refining, until we come to a sense of completion. Amy opened the doors to my own Creativity in a vital and important way for which I am deeply and eternally grateful.”
- Lynne Foote
“Thank you, thank you, thank you Amy! Yes there is a lot to do, but as you said, one thing at a time so as not to get overwhelmed. I probably will need to schedule another session at some point……you are such a great mentor. 🙂
- Katherine Greene
“Amy is a wealth of knowledge and she will share it all with you without reservation. If you want your art to improve and your confidence to soar do yourself a favor and work with Amy. You will be amazed at the results!”
