Hi Amy
I am an Australian artist and am applying for an Ondarte residency. I would love to hear any comments or recommendations from you, as you have obviously been to several residencies.
I work in contemporary mixed media painting and would be interested in both the local sites and culture of the people. Would it also be worth suggesting running local art workshops in creative acrylic painting?
Thanks for reading this,
Judy Jelsma

Good Morning Amy....I was going to email you then thought I would check to see if you had started your blog and here you are. We are in sync. How goes it, other than warm, tropical, exotic? Are you comfortable? What kind of accomodations? How are your fellow artists? How do you like Akumal? Have you started working yet? I meant to tell you that there is a fun fishing village to the south of you that is out of the way. Can't remember the name but if you look at a map there is a road that leads to it along the coast. You would need a car to get there. Charlie and I drove there and had lunch once. I start working in my friend's studio next week while she is away at Semester at Sea. Excitement is building in me. I want to start painting again. I want to make a sampler book for my THRESHOLD class. I want to return to the bead embroidery. I have play dates with four different artist friends over the next week so something in me is ready. Write when you can. Sending you a big hug. Lynne

Hello Mary-Ellen, thanks so much for your comments. Always good to connect with other like minded artists. Would be curious to know your favorite residencies so far? I am currently at Cill Rialaig Artist retreat in southwest Ireland for the month of May - amazing, remote, windswept. I'll be updating my blog in the next month or so, and am finishing my book about the artist-in-residence life - so stay tuned!
Best wishes to you,
Amy

Wonderful journey, Amy. I feel a kindred spirit in you. I am going to Babayan Turkey this summer and hopefully New Pacific Studios in a few months. I too travel for learning, working and inspiration. did something similar to you in 2007 with 5 residencies. Now up to 8 but with working in between.I explore similar ideas of time and place with few materials and found objects mostly in book form.I see you did this in 2009. Any more adventures since then?

Hi Amy,
This work is absolutely beautifull. I can just imagine you working here (this is my last day in Sanskriti Kendra). The sweeping is typicall here yes! You really captured the peacefullness of this place. And it's like you have been drawing like a monk so detailed. Respect for that!
